Filmed in Vienna's Razumovsky Palace — the very rooms where Beethoven’s Op. 59 quartets were first imagined for their patron Count Razumovsky — the Aris Quartet performs all three "Razumovsky" Quartets in a setting rich with historical resonance. Written in 1806, these works broke new ground in scale, emotional range and structural ambition, marking a pivotal moment in Beethoven’s middle period. The award-winning Aris Quartet not only performs these groundbreaking works, but discusses what it is that makes them so pivotal to the history of an entire genre.
