450 Years Staatskapelle Berlin
fidelio celebrates 450 years Staatskapelle Berlin.
With a tradition dating back to 1570, the Staatskapelle Berlin is one of the oldest orchestras in existence. For about four and a half centuries now, the ensemble, which has undergone many changes in the course of its long and eventful history, has had a significant influence on Berlin's musical life. Since 1992 Daniel Barenboim has served as General Music Director of the Staatskapelle Berlin. Together with the orchestra, he has realized a number of highly acclaimed cyclical projects, including performances of the great Wagner operas and musical dramas, the operas and orchestral works of Alban Berg, and complete performances of the symphonies of Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Bruckner and Mahler.
Watch selected highlights of the Staatskapelle Berlin with Daniel Barenboim, such as the Brahms-Zyklus in Buenos Aires starting Mid-December in the fidelio collection.
