Waldbühne 2024: A Summer Night, Fire & Passion
The Berliner Philharmoniker with Kirill Petrenko and Yuja Wang.
Under the Berlin night sky on what is probably the most beautiful open-air stage in Europe, the Berliner Philharmoniker's end-of-season concert will celebrate an anniversary this year: 40 years ago, on 30 June, 1984, the orchestra played here for the first time. To celebrate, they invited the wonderful and powerful Yuja Wang.
This year's repertoire is dedicated to the power of orchestral colours and narrative. Whether it is the fantastical and eerie atmosphere of Mussorgsky's Night on a Bald Mountain, the energetic and innovative spirit of Prokofiev's Piano Concerto which demands high virtuosic skills, or the lush and impressionistic landscapes of Ravel's compositions: we are looking forward to a colourful music night under the summer skies of Berlin.
