Venice TV Award Announced Winners 2019
Winners revealed in Performing Arts, Documentary, TV Series and other categories. Masterpieces from 28 countries were rewarded this year at the Venice TV Award.
Two Weeks after the Venice Film Festival, international Jurors met in Venice for the Venice TV Award, supported by IMZ, egta and ACT – Association of Commercial TV – Celebrating the masterpieces of TV.
While in the category TV Series “Chernobyl” was the great winner, in the Category Performing Arts “The Art Of Drumming” was awarded with Gold (Broadcaster: Sky Arts, Production: Wall to Wall Media).
Great Success as well for Germany with two Nominees: “Magic Moments Of Music – Horowitz In Moscow” (sounding images, ZDF/ARTE, C Major Entertainment) and “Abba Forever – A Celebration” (Stanza Media for PBS).
The other two Nominees were from BBC Scotland (“Beginning”) and from Radio Television Hong Kong (“Arts On Air: Lady White Of West Lake”).
The jury evaluated entries in the categories: Performing Arts, Documentary, Light Entertainment, Programme Promotion, Branded Entertainment, Sport, Children/Youth, Comedy, Reality TV, Technical High Quality, Cross-Platform, New Talent, TV Series, TV Film.
“The quality of television programming today is better than ever through: dedicated work by talented people and new ways to communicate. I am pleased that the Venice TV Award recognizes this.” (Sonia Rovai, Sky Italia)
The award is seen as a statement of the TV Industry remaining active, successful and creative.
The jury at the international Venice TV Award was composed of leading TV experts, among others Malin Häger from TV 4 Sweden, President of egta; Nicola Caligiore, Rai – Radiotelevisione Italiana, Vice-Chairman of the TV Committee European Broadcasting Union; Dr. Markus Schäfer, CEO All3Media Germany and The Netherlands, Board Member Allianz Deutscher Produzenten; Rohit Gupta, President, Sony Pictures Network India; André Takada, Vice President Creative Services Fox Network; Sonia Rovai, Head of Scripted Production, Sky Italia; Lothaire Burg, Art Director from ARTE; Elke Walthelm, Executive Vice President Content, Sky Germany; Nayo Titzin, Producer, Director, Artistic Director, Master of Art Film Festival.
