Treasures from Russia
Russia is one of the few countries constantly producing great instrumentalists and Singers.
Poorhouse is very proud to have secured worldwide distribution rights for a selection of programs produced by the Moscow Philharmonic Society. Dmitry Shostakovich said about this institution: “It is difficult to overestimate the role of the Moscow Philharmonic in the development of musical life in our country. It is a kind of university which is attended by millions of music lovers and thousands of musicians.”
Created in 1922 it has become Russia´s leading concert organizer with a wide range of subscription concerts featuring top artists and orchestras from all over the world. We have been able to choose programs involving pianist and conductor Mikhail Pletnev, playing the rarely heard Second Piano Concerto by Saint-Saens and another International Tchaikovsky Competition winner, Boris Berezovsky, who features in concerts and a wonderful recital of all Russian music.
We can also offer a concert with French Shooting Star, Lucas Debargue and last but not least we have taken on Chamber Music by Claude Debussy, which is not often recorded but now available for Debussy celebrations during this year.
Programme: Lucas Debargue and the Russian National Orchestra under the baton of Mikhail Pletnev perform Ravels Piano Concerto in G and Debargue also plays the piano part in Scriabin´s Prometheus. Berezovsky plays the Prokofiev Concerto No 2, the Piano Concerto by Khachaturyan, Rachmaninov´s Rhapsody on a theme by Paganini and Gershwin´s Rhapsody in Blue and gives a recital with music by Balakirev, Lyadov and Scriabin.
And there is more to come.
