Since the establishment of the IMZ in 1961, there has been a need for the performing arts sector to demonstrate its relevance through measurable statistical indicators. Your contribution will help ensure that our industry is represented with reliable, comparable, and meaningful evidence that can strengthen its position across Europe and beyond.

The data provided will be kept confidential and will be used in aggregated, anonymized form, primarily at a country level, for research and analysis purposes only.

A year ago, a working group was formed in which eight representatives of the major IMZ members worked together under the leadership of the IMZ team and with the professional guidance of the EBU, to develop the questionnaire.

As a strategic timeline was setup, the goal was clear: to collect the data along the year and to present the first results at the General Assembly at Avant Première 2026.

The overarching goal is to produce a comprehensive and data-driven report highlighting the reach, impact, and relevance of the audiovisual performing arts industry, with a particular focus on classical music. This initiative aims to showcase the value of our industry, backed by hard facts and meaningful data, to reinforce its relevance in the global cultural landscape with a particular focus on Europe. This data will not only validate the industry’s significance but also provide stakeholders with actionable insights to advocate for the continued support and growth of our field.

The questionnaire covers key performance indicators such as the market share of audiovisual classical music, top-performing titles, programming trends, and public service media engagement.

Our long-term goal is to publish this report each year, giving us the insight we need to strengthen the future of our industry.

Organisations that have not yet submitted their data may still participate. For assistance with the process, please contact Sofia Pilhal at s.pilhal@imz.at.
