The IMZ at Sunny Side of the Doc: The Connected Edition
The Connected Edition of Sunny Side of the Doc, the international market place for documentary + factual content, took place from 22-25 June and the IMZ was happy to be part of it!
Each year, the 4-day event brings together +2,000 professionals in documentary filmmaking, storytelling + broacasting from 50 countries to buy + sell programmes and share untold stories.
For the third consecutive year, the IMZ + Sunny Side of the Doc collaborated for a pitching session for documentaries. As part of the expert jury of the Arts & Culture Pitching Session, the IMZ honoured the best pitch with two free festival passes for Avant Première as a recognition for excellence and creativity. The winner this time was Walnut & Rose Pictures for “E. is for Escovedo: The Sheila E. Story”! The film tells the dramatic story of the best female drummer in the world – from her childhood in a family of Latino musicians, through her rise to fame as an 80s pop-superstar alongside Prince, to the reality of life today as a 62-year old performer in the youth-obsessed music industry.
Discover all 42 pitches in all categories here.
And once again, the IMZ represented the interests of the performing arts film industry at the Virtual IMZ Umbrella Stand, where IMZ Members also presented their latest productions!
