The Film Festival at Vienna’s Rathausplatz Kicks Off!
Curated by the IMZ, Vienna’s summer festival presents music films in a stunning open-air setting free of charge!
Film Festival at Vienna’s Rathausplatz
2 July – 4 September, Vienna, Austria
A key element of our mission to bring the performing arts to new audiences, our IMZ Music Film Festivals make cultural outreach easy, drawing crowds of all ages with engaging programmes featuring something for everyone! A prime example of this vision is the Film Festival at Vienna’s Rathausplatz, where we've been selecting the programme since 1991 – our first and longest-running festival, it boasts an eclectic mix of music films, all shown free of charge!
Its 32nd edition kicked off last Saturday with a recording of We Stand with Ukraine, a star-studded charity concert featuring the cream of Austria’s music scene that took place earlier this year at Vienna's Ernst Happel stadium!
We are very much looking forward to this year’s programme: Among the many, many amazing international highlights are recordings of the likes of Queen, Amy Winehouse, Luciano Pavarotti, Lang Lang featuring Herbie Hancock, John Williams conducting Anne-Sophie Mutter and the Vienna Philharmonic, Glenn Gould, an evening of show tunes from the most popular musicals of the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, star-studded productions of Turandot, Fidelio + Carmen, and even a delayed live transmission of Rossini’s Il Turco In Italia, broadcast from the nearby Vienna State Opera!
Here's to a long summer of amazing music films!
More to come!
