Ten Years of Musical Production in Ostrava
A gala concert celebrated a decade of musical production at the National Moravian-Silesian Theater in Ostrava.
A gala concert given on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the birth of the musical scene at the National Moravian-Silesian Theater in Ostrava celebrated a decade of musical production in the city.
Actors from the theater's musical troupe regularly receive awards in various competitions. Every year, they appear among nominees for the Thalia Award, and in many cases, they are the winners. Thalia Award recipients for musical productions staged in Ostrava include Hana Fialová, Tomáš Savka, and Martina Šnytová-Vlčková. Likewise, the theater's rendition of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar won the Production of the Year Award bestowed by the Musical Magazine in 2016, and the Phantom of London received a prize for the best musical at the Grand Prix of South Korea in the same year. In addition, the main prize for the best musical actors in this competition was awarded to the production's two principal protagonists, Lukáš Adam and Jana Musilová. These and numerous other awards attest to the fact that the influence of Ostrava's musical scene extends far beyond the North Moravian region.
The broadcast of the concert offered viewers unforgettable melodies from the most popular musicals performed by Hana Fialová, Martina Vlčková, Tomáš Savka, Lukáš Vlček, and others. The performance was directed by Gabriela Petráková, with stage design created by Ondřej Zicha using elements from the staging of the featured productions. The concert included compositions from such musicals as West Side Story, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Edith and Marlene, Phantom of London, Rebecca, and Cats.
