Symphony From Another World by Naïssam Jalal 5et
Flutist and composer Naïssam Jalal unveils a personal and vibrant musical universe which, in content and in form, gives full meaning to the word freedom.
Many feelings were mixed when Naïssam Jalal was asked to compose for a symphony ensemble. However, it is not the first time that the flutist invents a rich, varied and learned music she draws from her love for jazz, classical and modern movements like funk or hip-hop.
It was then that her desire to create a new universe surfaced. Her sonic and aesthetic experiments allowed her to imagine an “Other World”. A world in which music brings values, dreams and removes borders.
In this work, the roles are blurred. The trumpets and the horn of the Orchestre Symphonique Divertimento play the main theme and are accompanied by the drums and the double bass. The barriers between soloists and orchestra are broken down, leaving room for two large ensembles. The strings are not left out and double the voice. So, quintet and symphony orchestra unite.
