Stagescreen's new Janis Joplin film
Stagescreen's new film, A Night With Janis Joplin, is due to hit cinemas in the UK and elsewhere in March.
Stagescreen's new film about the life of 60s rock star Janis Joplin is due to be screened in cinemas in the UK and other territories starting on 13 March 2025. Filmed on the West End stage with the co-operation and participation of Joplin's brother Michael and sister Laura, and starring Mary Bridget Davis reprising her Tony-nominated role as Janis, it tells the story of the life and music of the unique rock icon in the form of a concert. Also featuring terrific performances from a cast representing Bessie Smith, Odetta, Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin and others, it is a feast of great blues-inspired music. It's currently available for licence on TV and SVOD.
This film follows 'Girl From The North Country', the Tony and Olivier award-winning musical with the songs of Bob Dylan, which Stagescreen presented in UK cinemas in November 2024. Both are distributed through Pop Twist Entertainment.
