The Golden Prague Festival announces its 33 finalists!
The international competition of the 62nd Golden Prague Festival has entered its second round. A total of 33 outstanding films celebrating music, dance, and theatre have advanced after impressing the international jury during the first round of evaluations.
So, who made it through?
The selection emerged from scores awarded by a five-member international jury. The ten highest-rated films in each of the three competition categories advanced automatically. In cases of tied scores at the tenth position, all tied entries proceeded - bringing the total to 33 exceptional finalists.
Competition categories:
Documentaries on music, dance, and theatre
Recordings of concert performances
Recordings of stage works (opera, ballet, musicals, theatre)
How does the second round work?
The jury will now select winners directly during the festival. Awards include the prestigious Grand Prix Golden Prague (EUR 10,000), three Czech Crystals (one for each category) and a Special Mention for an exceptional artistic achievement.
Additionally, jurors may each nominate a “wild card”: one programme they believe deserves a second chance. Up to five wild cards may be considered for inclusion.
Additional awards:
Even non-finalists remain eligible for the Czech Television Prize and the Dagmar and Václav Havel Foundation VIZE 97 Award (CZK 50,000).
The awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, 25 September 2025, at the New Stage of the National Theatre in Prague.
Congratulations to all nominees and thank you to every creator who entered!
