SESC – Social Service of Commerce
Iconic performances of Brazilian and international artists, series, documentaries and E-learning on arts, environment, anthropology, among others.
SESC is a private and nonprofit institution of public interest and national scope founded by the entrepreneurs of commerce and services in 1946 in Brazil.
In the State of São Paulo, SESC carries out programmes in Culture, Education, Sports, Leisure, and Health in its 40 socio-cultural centers through performing arts, music and film, exhibitons, meetings with authors, sports courses, environmental and nutritional education, restaurants, programs aimed at different age groups, amongst others.
The Audiovisual Production Center and SESCTV produce contents in relation to the intitutional mission, while SESC Digital platform offers to a wide audience films, documentaries, series, performing arts, visual arts, socio-educational, environmental, health, E-learning and other programs free of charge. SESC Record Label produces and launches inedit records, mainly in Brazilian music, but also through international cooperation.
The institutional actions are guided by their educational purpose and the pursuit of social welfare based on a broad understanding of the term culture. The accessibility of its space and content aims the democratization of culture as a way to the individuals’ autonomy.
