Season opening at Konzerthausorchester Berlin
The Konzerthausorchester and Joana Mallwitz kicks off its new season in style with a programme marrying tradition and innovation to compelling effect.
The Konzerthausorchester Berlin and Chief Conductor Joana Mallwitz kicks off its new season in style with a programme marrying tradition and innovation to compelling effect. First comes Ravel’s ever-popular Boléro, before US composer Bryce Dessner's Piano Concerto – a work of "sheer brilliance and ebullience" (The Guardian) performed here by Alice Sara Ott, for whom it was written. For the concert's second half, Anna Meredith's evocative Nautilus juxtaposed with Beethoven's groundbreaking Symphony No. 1, marking the start of a new Beethoven project Mallwitz is undertaking with her orchestra leading up to his anniversary year in 2027.
