RICHARD WAGNER: DIE WALKÜRE
On the occasion of the Salzburg Easter Festival‘s 50th anniversary: A special re-creation of Karajan’s musico-theatrical vision of Wagner’s masterwork.
On the occasion of its 50th anniversary the Salzburg Easter Festival celebrates its founding father Herbert von Karajan by attempting to re-create his musico-theatrical vision of Die Walküre from 1967. Directed by Vera Nemirova, the re-creation through the stage designs of Günther Schneider-Siemssen brings the historical original back into focus and at the same time poses the question as to how it may be reinterpreted for our own time.
Christian Thielemann, the world’s foremost Wagner conductor and Artistic Director of the Festival will conduct his Staatskapelle Dresden, which has an equally outstanding relationship to Richard Wagner, who used to call it his “Wunderharfe”, in this production featuring Wagner stars such as Anja Harteros, Peter Seiffert, Christa Mayer, Georg Zeppenfeld, and many others.
