With the end of the summer months, preparations are in full swing for the upcoming opening production: Gaetano Donizetti's opera "Les Martyrs" sets the stage for the start of the 23/24 season at the MusikTheater an der Wien, bridging the musical styles of Italian Belcanto and French Romanticism. The premiere will take place on September 18th at the Halle E in the MuseumsQuartier.

In this Grand Opéra, American tenor and Belcanto expert John Osborn takes on the demanding role of Polyeucte. The challenges of this role become an impressive showcase of vocal prowess, with the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester led by Jérémie Rhorer, a renowned figure in historical performance practice, conducting.

Likewise, rehearsals have already begun for the Austrian premiere of Philip Venables' "Denis & Katya", scheduled to premiere on September 27th at the Kammeroper. The opera unfolds a "Romeo and Juliet" story in the age of social media. Based on true events, two Russian teenagers share their tragic fate through a livestream. The piece deftly weaves analog and digital worlds into a captivating music theater experience that provokes contemplation.

Single ticket sales for performances starting from January 1st, 2024, have already commenced. Tickets can be purchased online, by phone at +43 (0)1 58885-111, or at the box offices located in the MuseumsQuartier | Halle E and the Wien Ticket Pavillon next to the Vienna State Opera.
