This season, it’s a night for the history books, marking the official beginning of Daniele Gatti’s tenure as the orchestra’s sevenths chief conductor in history. Such an event wouldn’t be complete without Mahler. The world-renowned baritone Christian Gerhaher appears as soloist in the “Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen”. Besides works by Schubert, Respighi (Fontane di Roma) and Verdi, the orchestra also happens to have a couple of musical surprises up its sleeve...
