Pavel Černoch – Enfant Terrible?
The documentary portrait of Pavel Černoch – the real story of one of the most important Czech contemporary opera singers.
The documentary portrait of Pavel Černoch – the real story of one of the most important Czech contemporary opera singers. Pavel Černoch is a tenor much sought-after by prestigious concert halls and opera stages, yet he is a rebel who lives life in his own way and who will not follow other people’s rules.
The film crew was able to be there at the birth of Pavel’s professional dream, which is to be a permanent guest at the most important opera stages such as the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, La Scala and Vienna State Opera. As he himself puts it, he wishes this so that he no longer has to explain or justify anything to anyone. And that dream has come true.
Pavel’s professional path is quite unusual. Already during his studies at Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno, it has been recommended to him to choose a different subject then singing because he was difficult. He always wanted to do what he enjoyed, he had his own mind and he wanted to commit fully to singing and sing in his own way, and therefore this recommendation could not distract him from pursuing his own path.
Even though he is very sensitive on the stage and often cries at the end of Traviata, he manages to constructively run his large company. When the stage set is being changed, Pavel will open up his laptop and dive into business issues.
