Now Accepting Applications for DFSF’s SIGHTLINE
0000: Dance Film SF's SIGHTLINE offers finishing grants, fiscal sponsorship, and mentorship for dance film projects. Applications open now, rolling basis.
Applications are now open for SIGHTLINE, the new cornerstone of Dance Film SF’s artist support initiative. A sightline is the unobstructed path between spectator and stage. SIGHTLINE offers that same clarity to filmmakers navigating the gap between pre-production and a premiere-ready film.
Building on the legacy of Dance Film SF’s Co-Lab program, SIGHTLINE helps dance films reach their full potential through three pillars:
1. Finishing Grants: direct funding for projects in production or post;
2. Fiscal Sponsorship: giving artists access to grants and tax-deductible donations through Dance Film SF's 501(c)(3) status;
3. Mentorship: expert guidance from our staff and industry experts.
Past support has helped launch standout work: "Tiler Peck: Suspending Time," which premiered at the 2025 San Francisco Dance Film Festival, won the 2026 Emmy Award for Outstanding Arts and Culture Documentary, and aired nationally on Great Performances on PBS. The documentary is available for international distribution via EURO ARTS. "Last Dance at the Sundance Stompede" toured the world, winning the Portrait of a Generation Jury Prize at the 2025 Barcelona Dance Film Festival. This year, "Griot," a new film from LINES Ballet dancer Adji Cissoko and filmmaker Yoram Savion, will premiere this November at the 2026 San Francisco Dance Film Festival.
SIGHTLINE accepts applications on a rolling basis. Applicants should submit a project description, key creative team, funding strategy, budget, and a work sample or trailer.
