In cooperation with the Association of German Dance Archives, the Dachverband Tanz coordinates the new tanz digital funding program. It marks the start of long-term work on the media presentation of dance. tanz digital is part of the NEUSTART KULTUR program of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.

With tanz digital, dance artists, dance ensembles and dance institutions (venues, archives, dance schools, education projects, etc.) are strengthened in the medial presentation of artistic productions and the testing of new technical means is promoted. The amount of funding is up to 30.000 €, for cooperations of artists with archives up to 40.000 €.

This will enable a modular and successively growing network of German ballet ensembles and dance theatres to develop innovative choreographic formats for media dance productions and to make live performances (on-demand) from their venues available via stream. Another goal of the tanz digital program is to support the basic work for the user and producer communities and to develop exemplary financing possibilities, as well as to clarify editorial and legal questions that arise for the art of dance and its visibility on the Internet in the course of the rapidly advancing digitalization.

The application deadline is 10 May 2021.
