New IMZ Member: TV UNAM
Welcome to the IMZ! TV UNAM is the channel that has been broadcasting the artistic and cultural project of the National Autonomous University of Mexico for the last 35 years.
TV UNAM is the public TV Station that broadcasts the cultural project of the National Autonomous University of Mexico. It was born 35 years ago as a production company and started broadcasting nationwide with a signal of its own 15 years ago.
It has received over 300 awards, amongst which we can mention the Award to the Best Cultural IberoAmerican Channel, granted by the Madrid University Carlos III and the Oscar to the Best Co-Production for the Animated Feature Film Pedro y el lobo.
TV UNAM is the Mexican cultural television reference; it is a free space for the young and for the different artistic manifestations. Every year, it broadcasts around 400 performing art shows which are either independent (in-house production) or the result of agreements with national and international Institutions: symphony concerts, opera, classic and contemporary dance, theatre, jazz, pop, and rock music. One of the most successful broadcasts are the live concerts by the UNAM Philharmonic Orchestra at the Nezahualcóyotl Hall in the University Cultural Center.
This station takes up the responsibility of disseminating the film culture through analysis and critic shows, as well as through cinema cycles commented by specialists.
Over the last two years, and thanks to all the social media channels, TV UNAM has succeeded in adapting to the new online consumption of television content. Now, the station is getting ready to launch its own satellite segment and offer a direct high definition broadcast.
