New IMZ Member: Cultural Media Collaborative
We’re pleased to welcome Cultural Media Collaborative – a production company dedicated to exploring classical music through rich, beautifully crafted documentaries.
Cultural Media Collaborative, Inc., specializes in dramatic documentaries exploring unique masterpieces by great composers. Since 2005, CMC has been filming orchestras, chamber musicians, dancers and operas, often with an eye to creating an expansive documentary that positions each masterpiece within its cultural, biographical and historical context.
As part of a cycle of films illuminating the songs and symphonies of Gustav Mahler, Cosmic Portal – Exploring Maher’s Symphony of a Thousand will join Mahler’s Titan: The Romance, Death and Triumph of a Young Musician and On Mahler’s Songs of a Wayfarer featuring Thomas Hampson, at Avant Premiere screenings in 2026.
With Alec Baldwin narrating, and Neeme Järvi leading an enormous ensemble of instrumentalists and singers, Cosmic Portal reveals in a striking and unique way what is common to all Mahler symphonies: listeners are invited to participate in the creation of the symphony’s meaning through their emotional and mindful engagement with the music. Music and the world of ideas become one.
