NAXOS CELEBRATES 30TH ANNIVERSARY
Naxos 30th Anniversary was celebrated in Munich. Klaus Heymann honored with an ICMA Special Achievement Award.
Naxos was launched in 1987 as a budget classical CD label. From those humble beginnings 30 years ago, it has developed into one of the world’s leading classical labels, recording a wide range of repertoire with artists and orchestras from more than 30 countries.
From May 16 to 17, 2017 the Naxos Music Group hosted the annual Music Market Munich, and this year the highlight was a gala concert at the Allerheiligen-Hofkirche with four Naxos artists – pianists Boris Giltburg and Nicholas Rimmer, cellist Gabriel Schwabe, and violinist Tianwa Yang.
During the event Dr. Florian Dücke (CEO of Bundesverband Musikindustrie) and critic Remy Fránck (President of the International Classical Music Awards), gave special citations to Naxos founder and Chairman Klaus Heymann for his achievements and contributions to the classical music recording industry.
Remy Franck, president of the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA), presented a Special Achievement Award to the Naxos Founder and Chairman Kaus Heymann.
The ICMA jury consisting of music critics from 14 different countries, representing 17 print or website magazines and radio stations as well as the IMZ declared in statement: “The founder of the Naxos Group, Klaus Heymann, has changed the recording industry and given the market a great and dynamic energy. Thanks to his strong vision, his incredible efficiency and his profound love for music, he became the industry’s major player.“
The event was also broadcast live on Facebook.
