Half Time at the Film Festival at Vienna’s Rathausplatz
Curated by the IMZ, some of the biggest highlights are yet to come.
Film Festival at Vienna’s Rathausplatz
2 July – 4 September, Vienna, Austria
Just barely a month after kicking off, the Film Festival on Vienna’s Rathausplatz is already a resounding success, drawing thousands with its excellent food court, pleasant atmosphere and eclectic mix of music films.
But some of the best is yet to come before this year’s edition ends on 4 September, including recordings of Amy Winehouse, the Rolling Stones, B.B. King, Ariadne auf Naxos by the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Karl Böhm, John Williams featuring Anne-Sophie Mutter and Glenn Gould.
In addition, the Children’s Opera Festival in the adjacent Rathauspark has been highly popular among both young and old: look forward to Coppélia, a charming, partially-animated rendition of the classic ballet reinterpreted by Maurizio Malagnini and the Dutch National Ballet on 19 August as well as a children’s version of Cinderella by British composer and teen prodigy Alma Deutscher the following week on 26 August!
As always, entry is free – stop by if you’re in town!
