Mountain Symphony
MOUNTAIN SYMPHONY is a journey of sound – from the valleys up into the mountains, all the way to the Alpine peaks.
MOUNTAIN SYMPHONY is a journey of sound – from the valleys up into the mountains, all the way to the Alpine peaks.
We experience a symphony of timbres and images, a concert of wind, rain, thunder and all manner of living things. A unique voyage of discovery into an astonishing world of sound and a journey that places the viewer under a spell.
Along the way we encounter people who open our ears and eyes. With their microphones they document the melting of glaciers and the drought stress of trees. They let people immerse themselves in the sound world of the forest or experience silence in a cave. We become part of acoustic worlds that draws us into the time and space of the moment as deeply as only sound can do.
The orchestra of the Alps intones a polyphonic masterpiece: a continuo of crickets and the wind in the treetops; the sound of rocks and glaciers. Everything has its place in this symphony. And it is an impressive testimony to a system that is thousands of years old, constantly changing, and today threatened by human. And finally, at the very summit, we discover something that many search for their entire lives: silence.
