Live stream of Jenůfa
Czech Television transmitted one of the most famous operas by Leoš Janáček when it was live streamed on OperaVision on 2 October 2019.
When a beautiful young woman in rural Moravia becomes unexpectedly pregnant, she learns that love is sometimes only skin-deep. A grim tale of infanticide and redemption, ”Jenůfa” was one of the first operas written in prose. Premiered at the National Theatre in Leoš Janáček’s hometown of Brno 115 years ago, it is today regarded as the Moravian national opera. This production was directed by Martin Glaser and conducted by Marko Ivanović, starring Pavla Vykopalová (Jenůfa), Szilvií Rálik (Kostelnička) and Jaroslav Březina (Laca).
Czech Television transmitted the opera when live streamed on Opera Vision on 2 October 2019. ”Jenůfa” will be available on the online platform for six months following the live performance.
”Jenůfa” is the second Opera Vision contribution of the Janáček's Theatre in Brno. The first one was the stream of Janáček’s The Cunning Little Vixen on 18 November 2018. During the stream and in the following six months, thanks to the Opera Vision recording, more than seventeen thousand people all over the world saw the production and the theatre received great feedback, not only from the Czech Republic but also from the US, South Korea and other countries.
