Leoš Janáček – a great story of the 20th century
Czech Television, in coproduction with Poorhouse Int., has completed a documentary film on the life and especially the work of a great Czech composer.
Leoš Janáček numbers among the most famous European composers of the 20th century, yet his journey to recognition and fame was not a simple one. Accompanying us through his life, and above all his best works, are two excellent Czech musicologists – Jiří Zahrádka and Miloš Štědroň. Czech and also excellent European clips are commentated by singer and violinist Iva Bittová and pianist Jan Jiraský, conductors Donald Runnicles and Simon Rattle, and directors and experts on Janáček's work Brian Large and Reiner Moritz.
