Filmed in June 2026 at the Kissinger Sommer, this concert brings together violinist Julia Fischer, the Budapest Festival Orchestra and Iván Fischer for two monumental works of the Austro-German repertoire, both in the radiant key of D major. Beethoven’s lyrical Violin Concerto, composed in 1806, is paired with Brahms’s warm and sunlit Symphony No. 2, written during the summer of 1877. Opening the programme, the musicians set aside their instruments to perform Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel’s Morgengruß, a characteristically imaginative gesture that reflects the Budapest Festival Orchestra’s distinctive spirit of musicianship and camaraderie. Filmed at the Regentenbau in Bad Kissingen, this concert celebrates a programme of lyrical beauty, orchestral brilliance and musical partnership.
