How will digitalisation change music production in the next years, what lasting changes will the pandemic bring, and what role will VR/AR/AI/XR play?

Matthias Röder is heading the Karajan Institute. Furthermore, he is a board member of the Karajan Foundation and founder of the Karajan Music Tech Conference as well as IMZ Innovation Ambassador. In this interview, we discuss the effects of the pandemic on music + technology and take into account the digitalisation in music production as well as the challenges + opportunities of music and VR/AR/AI/XR.

Regularly, experts + professionals from a wide range of industries are invited to share their ideas and views on the topic of innovation + digitisation and cross-sector content, published on the Digital Cross Over Blog which is managed by Frankfurter Buchmesse.

Digital Cross Over is a cross-sector project between the content + creative industries led by the IMZ and co-funded by the European Commission through the EACEA – Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency. The project is being implemented by an international consortium of representatives from different sectors consisting of the IMZ, Ars Electronica (AT), Börsenvereinsgruppe (DE), Centrica (IT) and Izneo (FR).
It aims at bridging culture + audiovisual content through digital technologies, as well as exploring new approaches in the use of innovative technologies to facilitate access, monetisation, distribution and promotion of Europe’s cultural heritage.
