Happy anniversary to the EMC European Music Council: 20 years in Bonn + 50 Years in Europe!
A hearty congratulations from the IMZ for half a century of promoting European music – we’re proud to be a member! Come join the celebration!
Committed to the development + promotion of all genres and types of music in Europe, the European Music Council (EMC) was founded about half a century ago (1972) as the regional group for Europe of the International Music Council (IMC), registering as a non-profit at the Bonn District Court 20 years ago.
To celebrates this auspicious occasion, several events and activities and activities have been lined up: For starters, there will be an anniversary concert on 1 June 2023 in Bonn, organised by the EMC alongside its member and fellow Bonn native the European Choral Association (ECA): It will also serve as the opening concert of the Bonn Schumann Festival.
A week later, the celebrations will continue from 8-10 June 2023 in Budapest at the 11th European Forum on Music, where the EMC Fellowship Programme, will continue to offer young professionals in the music sector the opportunity for international networking.
A reception with members of the European Parliament in Brussels is planned for the second half of the year. Finally, the anniversary year will conclude with a closing event for the MusicAIRE project (re-distribution of EU project funds for the COVID recovery of the music sector).
The IMZ has been an enthusiastic member for years and supports the goals of the EMC; here’s to another half century!
