Gala Concert - 80th Anniversary of Yuri Temirkanov
St. Petersburg Philharmonic celebrates the jubilee of Yuri Temirkanov with world-famous musicians in a prestigious Gala-Concert.
In order to celebrate the Jubilee of the outstanding Russian conductor Yuri Temirkanov, the D.Shostakovitch St Petersburg Academic Philharmonia has presented a prestigious Gala in the Grand Hall of the D. Shostakovitch in the course of the 19th International Winter Festival Arts.
Worlds famous musicians are gathered among them Nikolai Lugansky, Vadim Repin, Julian Rachlin, Denis Matsuev, Matthias Goeme, Yuri Bashmet, Dinara Alieva, Paata Burchuladze and Karen Slack.
The concert with short pieces of Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, Verdi, Lehar, Mahler, Gerschwin, Milhaud, was performed with the St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Mariss Jansons together with the Mikhailovsky Theatre Choir, the St. Petersburg Chamber Choir, and the St. Petersburg Concert Choir.
The Gala was broadcasted by Kultura TV and Arte.
