Forget about Bayreuth!
Here comes the Bayreuth of the younger generation!
The Young Euro Classic festival, now entering its 19th season already, stays true to its mission to introducing new ideas, new works and new faces to Berlin audiences – but not only to them – actually to audiences worldwide via live streaming, TV broadcasts and on DVD.
Nelson Mandela is the focus of the opening concert on 3 August: the MIAGI Youth Orchestra from South Africa, an absolute audience favorite, is sure to set the festival sparks flying at Berlin’s Konzerthaus on Gendarmenmarkt. The spectacular finale features the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra performing music by “Lennie”, its legendary founder Leonard Bernstein. And everything in between is equally fit to arouse curiosity: a multitude of world and German premieres, large-format orchestral works by Richard Strauss, jazz, ballet – and of course the evergreen symphonies of Beethoven.
The festival stands for the cultural and musical endeavor of the youth and is already labeled the “Bayreuth of the younger generation” (Berliner Morgenpost).

This was the IMZ Academy “Re-Imagining the Orchestra for the Digital Age”
IMZ International Music + Media Centre
Adapting to the continuously growing digital realm can be a challenge for a traditional live art like orchestral performances. However, it can also fuel a creative, vitalising re-imagination of the ways in which Orchestras communicate and connect with their audience. This IMZ Academy took place from 29-30 May in Vienna, Austria.
