Five years of Naxos Audiovisual Division
Since the launch of its Audiovisual Division in the summer of 2016, Naxos has established a key position in the classical music AV market.
A catalogue of around 2,500 recordings, from opera and ballet, to concerts, theatre, and documentaries is distributed worldwide by a dedicated sales team, whilst DVDs and Blu-rays are released via the Naxos Group’s family of in-house labels NaxosAV, Opus Arte, Dynamic, Belvedere and Die Theateredition.
"We are pleased that our self-imposed goal of becoming a key player in the market with the new business unit has been achieved," says Erwin Stürzer, General Manager of the Naxos Audiovisual Division. "Due to the close cooperation with well-known venues, production partners as well as with our own productions and a strong commitment to quality, we have been able to establish ourselves in a relatively short time.”
Accordingly, the Division has concluded 2020 with a significant increase in sales and is already recording above-average growth for the current year.
Klaus Heymann, founder of Naxos and CEO of the Naxos Music Group: "The Naxos Audiovisual Division has become an important part of our global activities, and its success is representative of the development of the entire Naxos Music Group as a leading global media company with almost 400 employees worldwide. The market development accelerated by the Corona pandemic has justified our decision to invest in our own audiovisual content."
Naxos Audiovisual's portfolio includes top-class recordings from the Royal Opera House, Bolshoi Theater, Bavarian State Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Opéra Comique, Lucerne Festival, Verbier Festival, etc. many of which received awards like the Opus Klassik, ICMA and a Grammy ® nomination.
