“It is with utmost pleasure that we celebrate the contribution of extraordinary luminaries to the cultural film landscape by awarding the EBU-IMZ Lifetime Achievement Award together with the EBU Music + Dance Experts Group.", says Arild Erikstad, President of the IMZ.

Bruno Monsaingeon is a Paris-based concert violinist, writer and film director who, while still active in the field of performance has, in the last four decades, devoted a large part of this time to the making of musical films.

His filmed profiles of some of the legendary performers of our time (Yehudi Menuhin, Glenn Gould, Sviatoslav Richter, David Oistrakh, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau) have gained worldwide acclaim. Many of his films have won prestigious awards at International Festivals, and are available on DVD. His new film Mstislav Rostropovich, the indomitable bow will be released in autumn 2018.

"We could not think of anyone better suited for this year’s EBU-IMZ Lifetime Achievement Award than Bruno Monsaingeon. His legacy does not only lie in his outstanding productions featuring legendary performers like Yehudi Menuhin, Glenn Gould or Sviatoslav Richter but also in his intimate, personal style of filming and his distinct and elegant approach to storytelling that continues to inspire music lovers and film makers for decades to come.“, IMZ President Arild Erikstad continues.

Thank you, Bruno Monsaingeon, for your immense impact on the performing arts in audiovisual media!
