DR Danish National Symphony Orchestra & Choirs
The IMZ is happy to welcome DR Danish National Symphony Orchestra & Choirs as a new member in our midst!
Since 1925 the Danish National Symphony Orchestra has been the cultural flagship of DR, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation. With Maestro Fabio Luisi as its present Chief Conductor and a succession of prominent guest artists each season, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra is today among Europe’s leading symphony orchestras as well as an innovative media production partner.
The distinctive sound of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra has been molded over the years by famous Chief Conductors like Nicolai Malko, Herbert Blomstedt, Thomas Dausgaard and Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos. Today the orchestra is internationally acknowledged for its passionate and straightforward style, closely linked with its Nordic roots and its special feeling for the music of Danish composers like Carl Nielsen.
Each year more than 100.000 music-lovers experience the magic of live symphonic music with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra – both in the spectacular DR Concert Hall and on the Orchestra’s major annual tour abroad. The Orchestra’s popular Thursday Concert series is experienced every week by many Danes on radio, TV and online, and millions tune in when the concerts are broadcast internationally.
Together with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the Danish Broadcasting Corporation is proud to have the Danish Radio Big Band and three professional choirs, each with a strong artistic profile: The Danish National Vocal Ensemble (headed by Marcus Creed), the Danish National Girls’ Choir and the Danish National Concert Choir. All three choirs are internationally acknowledged ensembles as well as experienced broadcast singers, and the Danish Radio Big Band is among the world’s leading big bands with an impressive discography.
On Avant-Première 2018, the Danish National Girls’ Choir will present a special new media project on the Innovation Day 19th February
