“This vivid Bohemian rhapsody is an absolute triumph”, wrote the Daily Telegraph about the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra’s performance of Smetana’s “Má vlast” at the Royal Albert Hall a few weeks ago, which is echoed by the Times writer’s bet that “it was the performance of the season.” After the orchestra’s successful end-of-season tour, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra and Accentus Music teamed up for one more special project: a fully analog direct-to-disc recording of “Má vlast” at the Bamberg Concert Hall.

Until the late 1940s and the advent of the magnetic tape, all recordings were done in direct-to-disc technique, where the microphones are directly connected to the cutting machine. This creates a completely authentic and unique live recording that is neither edited nor remixed or mastered. Today, only a handful of studios worldwide are equipped to make direct-to-disc recordings.

The Direct-to-Disc recording of „Má vlast” with the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra will be available in early 2020 as a premium 3-LP box set in a numbered edition of 1,000 pieces and only on vinyl.
