DeckCam Expands PTZ Camera Possibilities

Production teams are continually looking for ways to capture performances from more angles without making their camera workflows unnecessarily complicated. PTZ cameras can provide valuable additional viewpoints, but operating several of them alongside traditional broadcast cameras can present new challenges.

DeckCam is designed to make this combined approach easier. It allows production teams to integrate PTZ cameras into a broader multicamera setup while continuing to use their existing large-format and manually operated cameras.

DeckCam can also work as a standalone production switcher. It provides core production functions including camera switching, pan and zoom control, basic titles, and picture-in-picture layouts.

Through DeckCam, operators can prepare, name, save, and recall PTZ camera positions for specific parts of a production. Views of a conductor, soloist, orchestra section, speaker, stage, or auditorium can be made readily available to the production team.

One of DeckCam’s distinctive features is its visual preset system. When operators save camera positions, DeckCam displays them as small preview images rather than only as names or numbers. This makes it easier to recognise the required composition and select the right shot quickly during a live production.

The aim is not to replace camera operators or automate creative decisions. DeckCam gives directors and production teams another practical tool: a simpler way to control PTZ cameras, combine them with established production equipment, and increase the number of usable shots available during a live event
