Christmas with Benjamin Appl
Christmas carols from around the world with Benjamin Appl, the Regensburger Domspatzen and Elsa Dreisig.
The acclaimed baritone Benjamin Appl is constantly on the move, primarily in Europe, Japan, and South America. Now he returns to his hometown of Regensburg and joins forces with the Regensburger Domspatzen and soprano Elsa Dreisig to give a Christmas concert featuring carols from around the world.
In the Alte Kapelle in Regensburg, the melodies of John Rutter, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Cécile Chaminade, Michael Praetorius, as well as traditional carols from France, Sweden, and Austria will resound.
Traveling to Regensburg this Christmas is Elsa Dreisig, one of the most sought-after singers at major opera houses. For Benjamin Appl, it means a return to his roots. He gained his first musical experiences as a young singer with the Regensburger Domspatzen, one of the oldest and most famous boys' choirs worldwide. Not only for him but also for the members of the more than thousand-year-old choir, it is a great joy to now sing the 2024 Christmas concert together. We accompany Appl as he gets to know the young singers and rehearses a few pieces with them - in addition to Christmas classics, the boys also enjoy singing international pop hits.
The international Christmas programme musically draws on the traditions of multiple cultures and regions, thus appealing to a wide audience. In addition to the Christmas concert with first-class singing and one of the world's most renowned choirs, we get to know the beautiful city of Regensburg in southern Bavaria and also become closely and personally acquainted with Benjamin Appl in his hometown.
