Brian Large honoured with the EBU-IMZ Lifetime Achievement Award 2017

In recognition of a lifetime devoted to excellence in producing music films, EBU and IMZ honoured Brian Large with the EBU-IMZ Lifetime Achievement Award and the IMZ Honorary Membership during International Television Festival Golden Prague.

Who would be a more suitable recipient of the first time ever EBU-IMZ Lifetime Achievement Award than legendary Brian Large?
With 50 years in television and more than 700 recordings of music and dance films, the luminary has defined and coined the performing arts film industry like no other.

Among the highlights of his bright career: The first recording for TV screens of the Three Tenors’ 1990 Word Cup concert, Andrea Andermann’s Tosca production staged in the original Roman settings and the New Year’s Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, which he regularly directed.

“It is an honour to celebrate the life and work of this exceptional director”, says Jon Ola Sand, Head of Live Events at the European Broadcasting Union. IMZ President Arild Erikstad further described the luminary as “an outstanding and innovative pioneer in the field of the audiovisual media”.

In appreciation of his visionary contribution to the cultural film industry and in gratitude for inspiring generations of filmmakers to preserve the performing arts for future generations, the IMZ is further pleased to award Brian Large with the Honorary IMZ Membership.

Other IMZ Honorary Members include Daniel Barenboim, Lang Lang, Jonas Kaufmann, Juan Diego Flórez or Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and we are especially excited to welcome Brian Large as the first IMZ Honorary Member coming from the film industry.
