Beethoven Tour honoured with Red Dot Design Award
The BTHVN2020 information steles in Bonn have been awarded with the famous Red Dot Award, which recognises unique design and outstanding creativity.
The Red Dot Award is one of the most renowned international design prizes for production and communication design and design concepts.
As a harbinger of the celebrations for Ludwig van Beethoven's 250th birthday in Bonn and the region the Beethoven Tour was installed at the end of 2019 and has enjoyed great popularity ever since. The 22 information steles are 2,5 meters high and provide interesting insights into the life and work of Ludwig van Beethoven in his 22 years in Bonn in written, visual and audio form. Interested visitors can rediscover Beethoven at stations in Bonn with trilingual animations, information texts and photos.
“The international recognition of the Beethoven Tour with the Red Dot Award underlines our efforts to make the 250th Beethoven Anniversary a national event with international appeal. As a sustainable project, the tour in Bonn and in the Rhein-Sieg-Kreis will be maintained beyond 2020 thanks to the committed involvement of many players”, explains Ralf Birkner, Commercial Director of the Beethoven Jubiläums GmbH.
Throughout Bonn, eleven steles were installed under the moniker of “BTHVNstory”, also at the new shop of the Beethoven-Haus, among other locations like the Breunig residency where the young artist used to roam. Under the name ”BTHVNregion” eleven further steles were installed in the larger Rhein-Sieg district. They contain favorite destinations of Beethoven, among those the Petersberg and the Drachenfels.
