Beethoven and his Contemporaries
Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin at Schwetzingen Festival 2020. A co-production of SWR + NAXOS.
At this year’s Schwetzingen Festival, the acclaimed Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin performed a series of equally enjoyable and meaningfully compiled concert programmes. Beethoven’s symphonies are combined with works from some of his contemporary composers who influenced and even gave inspiration to Beethoven. Following the practice of authentic performance the orchestra plays without conductor, led by its concertmaster Bernhard Forck who is a renowned expert for period instrument performance.
