Barbara Hannigan–Equilibrium: The Rake’s Progress
Hannigan embarks on a new project with conducting her first opera and assembling the ensemble of singers in a series of auditions around the world.
Accentus Music has started filming the beginning of an exciting project: By the end of 2018, Barbara Hannigan, probably one of the most versatile artists of our times, will yet again tackle a new challenge by conducting semi-staged performances of Stravinsky’s “The Rake’s Progress” with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. All soloists for this project will be carefully chosen by Hannigan herself in castings that will take place in Stockholm, Zurich, Paris, and London over the coming months. This project is part of Barbara Hannigan’s mentoring program “Equilibrium”, which supports singers who have finished their studies but are still in the early stages of their professional careers. Accentus Music is following the complete project from the very first auditions in Stockholm until the first performances in late 2018.
