Argerich, Maisky, Takezawa, Pappano at Sta Cecilia
Saint-Saëns Carnival of the Animals - Live Recording from Santa Cecilia, Rome.
Classical music is often thought of as being austere, ponderous and stern, yet there are examples that were explicitly intended to be the exact opposite.
Carnival of the animals is one of those compositions. Regarded as being plain fun by Saint-Saëns himself, this work is often underestimated as a piece for children. In addition to the entire concert, Maestro Pappano will provide us with deeper insights on each individual movement of the composition, providing not only musical examples, but also a very entertaining introduction interspersed with witty anecdotes.
With Martha Argerich, Mischa Maisky, Kyoko Takezawa and Antonio Pappano.
