Accentus to film IPO’s 80th Anniversary Concert
On December 26th, the Israel Philharmonic celebrates its 80th anniversary with an all-Beethoven program.
The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra was founded in 1936 by Bronislaw Huberman and its inaugural concert, on 26 December 1936, was conducted by Arturo Toscanini. 80 years later on the same day, Zubin Mehta, the orchestra’s musical director for life, will conduct the IPO in a veritable Jubilee Concert with an all-Beethoven program. Mehta – who celebrated his own 80th birthday earlier in 2016 – will be joined by his longtime artistic friends Pinchas Zukerman, Amanda Forsyth, and Yefim Bronfman.
