Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier represents one of Western music’s greatest achievements. Described as the ‘Old Testament’ of the keyboard repertoire, it represents a wealth of musical invention, ingenuity and delight. A supreme technical challenge for any performer, they also offer an astonishing experience for every listener – especially when they are played with the mastery and sensitivity of András Schiff.
Schiff, who has a long standing reputation as Bach expert and benchmark for the interpretation of Bach's piano literature, will perform in this recital the first of the two volumes with its sequences of 24 Preludes and Fugues – one in every key.

The concert complements András Schiff‘s critically acclaimed rendition of the “Goldberg Variations” at the BBC Proms and a lecture concert by András Schiff on the “Goldberg Variations” from Berlin’s new Pierre-Boulez-Saal, both also available via UNITEL.
