SF Dance Film Festival Streams on Marquee TV
2024 San Francisco Dance Film Festival programmes to stream online via Marquee TV from 21 October through 3 November.
San Francisco Dance Film Festival (SFDFF) will stream an “Online Encore Festival” on Marquee TV from 21 October through 3 November. This online programming highlights selections from the 2024 Festival including six feature films and four curated programs of short films.
Documentaries about transformative personal stories and trailblazing figures lead the feature-length films. CLOSER THAN YESTERDAY is a behind-the-scenes look at the journey of two SF Ballet dancers as they prepare for the Helsinki International Ballet Competition. A RESILIENT MAN (USA only) offers an intimate portrait of Royal Ballet Dancer Steven McRae’s return to the stage after a severe injury. BREAKING FORM explores the 40-year career of revolutionary choreographer Jane Comfort.
The short film series includes SPOTLIGHT SHORTS, a collection of the most provocative short dance films from this year’s official selections; STORIES IN MOTION, where artists tell universal stories through the intimately personal language of movement; HUMAN/NATURE, four documentary shorts capturing real-life stories in conversation with stunning natural settings; and WOMEN ON THE MOVE, showcasing a powerful diversity of women’s voices.
SFDFF’s Encore Online Festival can be enjoyed by purchasing a Streaming Pass ($20 USD) which includes a three-month all-access membership to Marquee TV. Passes and more details are available at: sfdancefilmfest.org/fall-festival-2024/streaming
