SF Dance Film Festival Announces 2024 Lineup
San Francisco Dance Film Festival announces its 15th Anniversary Festival programming, presented in person and streaming online through Marquee TV.
San Francisco Dance Film Festival (SFDFF) announces its 2024 lineup featuring 90+ films from 25+ countries. 4 October - 3 November, SFDFF will curate in-person screenings and select programs streaming on Marquee TV.
Documentaries about transformative personal stories and trailblazing figures lead the feature-length films. The 2024 Festival includes a wide range of feature documentaries exploring everything from classical Cambodian dance to modern dance mavericks. SFDFF’s history of presenting short screendance films continues with a diverse array of nine curated shorts programs. Representing a rich variety of contemporary and traditional dance styles, these films expertly merge choreography, cinematography, and music to address topics exploring the human condition.
The Encore Online Festival includes select SFDFF programs streaming globally on Marquee TV from 21 October - 3 November. Highlights include SPOTLIGHT SHORTS, a collection of the most provocative dance film shorts from this year’s official selections; Closer Than Yesterday, a documentary following two SF Ballet dancers’ preparations for the Helsinki International Ballet Competition; and A Resilient Man (USA only), an intimate portrait of Royal Ballet Dancer Steven McRae’s return to the stage after a severe injury. The Encore Online Festival can be accessed via the purchase of a Streaming Pass, which includes a three-month subscription to Marquee TV.
