L'Orontea premieres at the Kammeroper
MusikTheater an der Wien presents on 2 December Antonio Cesti's "L'Orontea" at the Kammeroper.
The next production premiering at the Kammeroper on 2 December, will be Antonio Cesti’s "L’Orontea".
This 1656 baroque opera follows Queen Orontea, who defends her independence against love until the shipwrecked painter Alidoro arrives, sparking romantic entanglements. In comic and serious scenes, it portrays love, jealousy, and intrigue across social ranks.
The production features Lautten Compagney Berlin under Wolfgang Katschner, staged by Tomo Sugao, with Hilary Cronin as Orontea, Gabriel Díaz as Alidoro, Alexander Strömer as Gelone/Creonte, Stephen Chaundy as Aristea, Maria Ladurner as Silandra, Therese Troyer as Giacinta, Johannes Wieners as Corindo, and Manhan Qi as Tibrino. L’Orontea runs until 29 December.
