Hermeto Pascoal & Nave Mãe Live
Brazilian renowned multi-instrumentalist celebrates his 80th birthday the way he likes: improvising onstage.
As a kid, Hermeto Pascoal was drawn to the sounds of nature, voices and objects: for him, everything was music.
His father's eight-bass accordion was his first instrument and, from then on, he never stopped. The boldness of playing the accordion at home – and, shortly afterwards, at forrós and wedding parties - projected Hermeto to the world.
With thousands of songs in his repertoire, Hermeto is a renowned artist and continues to influence generations - both in Brazil and abroad - experimenting with his art and "breaking everything”, as he likes to say.
Accompanied by his band, Nave Mãe, the concert presented by SescTV gathers a repertoire of universal music that he builds during the presentation.
“I like to do things on time. I don't premeditate anything, when I make an introduction, I look at the boys and they already know what they have to do”.
With so much freedom onstage, it's no wonder the audience gladly accepts the invitation to sing and interact with the musicians as they wish.
Recorded to celebrate Hermeto's 80th anniversary in March, 2016, the concert also stars guest artists such as Arismar do Espírito Santo, Nenê, Paulo Maio and Sami Kontola.
