The Sixteen presents a journey of peace and reflection in its 2025 Choral Pilgrimage. Captured by digital commissioning agency The Space, the work is available on BBC iPlayer and was first broadcast on BBC Four on Sunday 19 October at 8:45pm.

Recorded at Peterborough Cathedral, the concert features luminous choral music from across six centuries. From the songs of the medieval abbess Hildegard of Bingen to the realm of a brand-new work for choir and violin by the contemporary composer Anna Clyne, nine pieces of music from across the centuries speak of peace and acceptance and the ecstatic joy their reassurance can bring. There are also sumptuous works by John Taverner, Will Todd and Arvo Pärt in his 90th birthday year.

The performance was part of The Sixteen’s annual Pilgrimage – Angel of Peace - which ran from March to October 2025, visiting over twenty iconic venues across the UK.

The Sixteen is led by conductor Harry Christophers and the concert is presented by Hannah French.
